STEP 4
TEST THEM
Offer your products or services for free to get people's reactions and feedback. This will help you to make any necessary improvements before you start charging for them.

OFFER FOR FREE.
Now this step will feel counterintuitive, so brace yourself.
I get it.
You wanna make money from your talents.
But first, you have to prove that your talents are actually worth making money from.
To you and your audience.
Trust this process because it's probably the most important of all of them.
Why?
Because it will prove to you that you're confident monetizing, it will give you the knowledge you need to create a killer offer and it will give you the proof you need to sell that offer.
So let's get into it...
This step involves testing your products or services to make sure that you like what you're offering and that there is demand for it in the market.
Since monetizing your talents is dependent on market demand and your personal brand, testing and offering your services is much easier than testing a new product that's unrelated to who you are.
To save time, you're gonna offer your services for free.
Because it is important to test as much as possible before deciding if you want to sell it in the future.
Here's how to effectively test and offer your services:
THE 3 BY 3 RULE
Choose 3 ideas and take 3 months to test each idea.
90 days are the average timeframe in which you can test a new business idea.
Because it gives you enough time to develop the offer, see if it resonates well, make improvements, and see results.
The goal is to gather feedback, create content (aka proof) and testimonials.
This will help you to make any necessary improvements before you start charging for them.
Offer your selected products or services for FREE to friends, friends of friends, social media followers, and colleagues. You wanna use this time to collect testimonials and proof of concept.
Do not get hung up on selling until you know you enjoy it and there is a demand for it.
Ask yourself if you actually enjoy doing it. If you want to spend your time doing it. And if it has money potential. Refine and learn from the free trial.
How to test services:
- Offer your services to friends or colleagues
- Post that you offer the services online for free but only to a limited amount of clients
How to test products:
- Create a mini-version of the product
- Offer Sample giveaways to your audience
- Pre-sales of a product (before you create it). Then you create it while you fulfill the offers.
What to get out of this stage:

TESTIMONIALS + FEEDBACK
For FREE offers, always ask for testimonials (in advance!), whether that's written or video testimonials.
These will help you sell your products & services afterward.
Also take this chance to (!) gather feedback on what could be improved, removed, or added.
Learn and refine as you go by asking for feedback from clients and improving your product or service.

PROOF
Gather proof of your product or service offer and collect testimonials from those you've worked with.
Make sure to take screenshots of online work & positive client messages as well.
Create content around how you tested your services, by creating behind-the-scenes pictures & videos of you engaging in it!

CLARITY
Ask yourself if you'd like to monetize this skill in reality, by asking yourself:
“Do I like it?”,
“Do I want to spend my time doing it?”
“Does the energy, time & money potential fit me”
LET'S TAKE ACTION
In order to test your products you need to follow a clear path.
So yes, it's time to get into action again. Grab a pen and paper, or open your notes app and start answering the following questions (in that exact order):
What 1-3 offers (service or product) do I want to test? → Who can I offer them to? → Where can I announce that I offer them?
What feedback do I want to gather when and in what format? (e.g. written / video testimonials)
What content can I create to have proof later of how I work with clients, how my offers look in action & what effect they have? (e.g. pictures & videos of the product, of you, of the client interaction, before & after, time lapses)
What improvements can I make based on the feedback I received?
Do I enjoy doing this?
Is the potential profit worth the time and energy invested?
Examples of how to test and offer your services:
- Offer free one-on-one coaching sessions and ask for testimonials in return.
- Speak at events for free and collect testimonials from those you speak to.
- Offer a free online course and gather feedback from those who participate.
- Create a limited edition of your product, offer it for free and gather feedback on the quality and usage
